Comic Shop Spotlight!

Coliseum of Comics - Kissimmee, Florida

Every time I travel I like to hit up the local comic shop scene and this trip to Florida was no different. This is the second Coliseum store I have visited, but I have to say I really enjoyed this shop. The store is split into three sections, gaming center, comics and collectible card games. 

Gaming center: The gaming section is laid out nicely with a full section filled with RPG books, miniatures and board games. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have any older D&D book for sales. In the back they have a few tables set up of gaming. Two have full terrains for war gaming, a very nice layout.

Comics: They have a nice selection of new comics and collected editions. They even had a copy of the John Romita Amazing Spider-man Artist edition (which I almost bought!). As for the back issues, they have a nice selection but the modern book pricing on a lot of them is mind boggling. Why do stores still think they have to charge a minimum of $2.50 / book, most of those books might be dollar bin books, frustrating to say the least. The silver and bronze age books appeared to be reasonably price for their conditions.

All in all this is a great store with a lot to offer, what ever your interests may be. So do yourself a favor if you are in Orlando stop by this or any of there locations, you wont regret it, For more information on locations and upcoming events, head over to their web site.

Vacation grabs!

To start out with it has been a very busy month, so I haven't had much time to post. But to start out with here are a couple of items I picked up on my trip to Florida.

Disney had a whole line of Muppets/star wars figure sets but I liked this one the best. Although I should have picked up the Rizo the rat/yoda, it was very cool.

I picked these up at the vender room at spooky empire from a company called Outlaw Custom Designs. They have a huge selection of items and can custom make them to almost any size you need.

Free comic Book day!

AD&D 2nd Edition - Hell yeah!

I had forgotten how much I love 2nd edition AD&D! Today I played my first game in twenty years and it was a blast. We are playing a small adventure that my friend D is running for us and we have the most interesting of traveling companions. I'm playing a half-elf fighter (cavalier kit) and Chris is playing a Gnome mage (Illusionist).

If you get a chance I recommend playing a 2nd ed. game, not only that find any RPG that you have never played and give it a try! There are so many options out there its almost a crime to not break out of your comfort zone. 

Valiant comics - Summer line up!

Well, I missed out on the X-O Manowar pre-order form, but I did pick up the Harbinger one. This nifty little paper allows you to subscribe to and reserve the variant pull box edition cover for issue #1. I for one am very happy that the new Valiant comics are gong back to adding extras to their new books. These are the start of things to come and I guess I wouldn't mind seeing them do the coupons again (gold/ silver editions). They most likely wont go that far but who knows.

I am really looking forward to Archer and Armstrong, hopefully it wont let me down.It's being written by Fred Van Lente so im not too worried. here is the synopsis:

I just found this on ebay and wanted to share it with you. Kevin Eastman is auctioning off an original 4 page TMNT story, as of the time of this post there are 4 days left. I love his pencils, just wish I had the money to bid on them!

Did someone say Novel?

So I may be jumping the gun on the title but I have started a project with my co-author "D". We have created the outline for a quarter of the book and have begun writing the first chapter.  We have been having a lot of fun coming up with the outline and it looks like the story is taking shape nicely.

As you might expect the story will take place in the Kingdom of Cal'Thel (my world) but it will not star anyone from the famed Silverblade family! I felt it would be best if I held on to my main characters until I had a few things written first. Never fear! there will be references to the ruling family to help the reader get a better feel for the realm. Other than that I wont reveal any more details until we get closer to completing the book.
